A Leeds Spirit School that opened its doors in December only to be hit by Covid-19 in March, has re-opened having built and maintained its profile by switching to distance blending and home deliveries during lockdown.
The Liquor Studio – which is above Hedonist Bar on Lower Briggate in Leeds City Centre – is back in business welcoming people safely through its doors for its Gin Creation Classes, Gin & Tonic Tasting Sessions, and Cocktail Masterclasses.
This week it has announced it is to add to its offer. Welcoming rum in autumn and whiskies in 2021, The Liquor Studio will become the only Spirit School of its kind in the North of England.
Founders Jon Lee and Dan Crowther are delighted to be back open and moving the business forward.
“Gin continues to be a much-loved spirit,” says Jon. “We love working with it and our classes are popular; they are still on and will continue, but to broaden our offer and work with rum and whiskey is really exciting for us.”
Whilst the team works behind the scenes to add to the business, the Gin Experience continues front of house in its studio offering experiences, meeting spaces, corporate events, private classes, and group parties.
It has extended its opening times to help welcome more people whilst adhering to current government guidelines; classes are now operating at a maximum of six people, but they are now open seven days a week.
The Gin Creation Classes are led by a ‘Ginstructor’ – each one a professional in their industry with years of experience.
Gin Students are greeted with a cocktail and can enjoy unlimited G&Ts throughout the class as the Ginstructor takes them through over 30 distillates to help create their own bespoke Gin. The list of 30 botanicals includes rhubarb, lemon verbena, black pepper, and Yorkshire Tea.
After two hours of getting creative, the students take home their 50cl bespoke Gin and a bottle of London Essence Tonic.
“We get great feedback from our all our classes,” says Dan. “They’re a joy to work on and our visitors always have a good time. It’s great to be back in business.”
The Liquor Studio is above Hedonist Bar on Lower Briggate in Leeds City Centre and runs its two-hour Gin Creation Classes:
Monday to Wednesday at 6pm
Thursday & Friday at 3pm & 6pm
Saturday at 12pm, 3pm & 6pm
Sunday at 1pm & 4pm
The class is £79.95 per person, which includes unlimited G&Ts, a gin cocktail, and a 50cl bottle of gin to take home.
The private Class for Two costs £130
The Liquor Studio also offers Gin & Tonic Tastings at £25 and Cocktail Masterclasses at £30 – these can be booked at a time to suit you
